Construction was complete in 2017. Frederick Douglass High School is 1 of 6 high schools in Fayette County, initially built to prevent overcrowding in the other local schools. Natural light is provided in every classroom, LED and solar lighting throughout the facility, allowing for low energy costs and carbon footprint. The VAV boxes, desiccant energy recovery wheel, and geothermal field provide energy savings and preferred indoor air quality.
